Social media is huge these days, but it doesn’t just bring the positive things. Likewise, a lot of hate messages and misinformation appear on social media platforms. Several Hollywood stars decided to boycott Facebook and Instagram for 24 hours in protest.
The procedure, called “Stop Hate for Profit,” was initiated by several civil rights organizations from the United States such as the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People and the Anti-Defamation League.
Big names
The business was very successful. Other actors and celebrities like Leonardo DiCaprio, Sacha Baron Cohen, Mark Ruffalo, Sebastian Stan, Kim Kardashian, Katy Perry, Judd Apatow, Amy Schumer, Kate Hudson, Sarah Silverman, Rosario Dawson and Kerry Washington all blocked Facebook and Instagram all day.
