It appears that the social media network Instagram was affected by a global disruption on Thursday evening. More than 11,000 users reported a service outage on the “alletreibung.de” portal since around 10 p.m. Users reported that their feed was not visible and they were unable to view stories, comments, or profiles. 47% of users complained about issues with the app, 30% with their feed, and 23% with their Instagram Stories.

Instagram itself has not yet commented on the glitch or its possible causes. However, after less than an hour, the issue appears to have been largely resolved and there have been no reports of bugs.
The social network belongs to the American Meta group, which also runs Facebook and WhatsApp. Instagram claims to have over two billion monthly active users worldwide. There are about 32 million Instagram users in Germany.
