Drive to Survive is not only about action on the track in Formula 1, but also about what goes on behind the scenes, such as driver competition and political games. The Netflix series has only a knack for exaggerating or even inventing things, as a result of which Max Verstappen indicated last year that he would no longer be in the series.
Not having such a big name in the sport, and of course the current world champion, in the series is a huge loss for Netflix and Formula 1 owner Liberty Media. So the new CEO of Formula One Group, Stefano Domenicali, indicated earlier that he wanted to talk to Verstappen and products, in order to bring the Dutchman back to the series.
Clearly, that conversation paid off. In the Barstool Sports podcast, Verstappen tells why he first decided not to collaborate and why he will continue to work on Drive to Survive in the future.
Two new seasons of Drive to Survive
Netflix certainly has no intention of stopping the Formula 1 series for now. The show is very popular and has caused a huge increase in interest in motorsports in the United States.
In fact, Drive to Survive was so successful that Netflix not only gave the green light for the series’ fifth season, but was immediately announced for the sixth season.
