Michael Cohen, a former lawyer for Donald Trump, said the president will likely flee the White House to Mar-a-Lago at Christmas and will not return to Joe Biden’s inauguration in January.
Speaking on MSNBC, Michael Cohen said the president will likely fight against the election result through January and beyond from his comfortable escape in Florida.
I wouldn’t be shocked if there was no concession letter at all. My theory is that at Christmas time he goes to Mar-a-Lago. I think it will stay there during the inauguration. “I wouldn’t be surprised if he didn’t attend the inauguration,” Cohen said.
“He can’t let the camera look at him, pull the curtain and see the magician standing next to him. He’s just a loser and kills him, and now, what happens in the White House is nothing but an accusing finger.”
Mr Trump has given no indication of waiving the election after expectations that Mr Biden will become the 46th president of the United States.
When the president-elect gave a patriotic speech to the nation and began picking the first official positions for his next administration, the Trump administration called a “cover” on Saturday and Sunday as the president spent the weekend playing golf.
While Mr. Trump has not appeared in person since the election results were announced, he was seen in video footage from the golf course standing with a bride on her wedding day.
“We still have a long way to go,” Mr. Trump told club members, dodging the upcoming legal battle as he contested the results in major states, while tweeting claiming that the election was stolen and winning “a lot”.
His first official personal comments will be made on Fox News on Sunday evening, where he is not expected to back down after a tweet that will focus the interview on what he calls the “Mail-In Ballot trick!”
When asked what the president plans to do after the presidency, Cohen said he would fight the election outcome even after Biden’s inauguration in January – possibly from the “Trump Network” or a media company, the stated goal of the first election bidding.
Cohen said, “Donald Trump cannot accept the fact that he lost. For him, it’s like calling him a loser, and it’s the worst thing in the world you can call him.”
“He will fight this not only until January when he is now told to leave and go wherever he should go, but he will do things after he has left that will make things very difficult for the Biden administration.”
