This affects users who use VirtualBox. In the past few weeks, Microsoft has been working with Oracle on what might go wrong when switching to Windows 11 regarding VirtualBox. The error affected the installation of Hyper-V or Windows Hypervisor, resulting in errors and startup errors with virtual machines. There is now a solution where nothing stands in the way of an upgrade. Microsoft has now also lifted the latest current update lock for Windows 11.
After updating VirtualBox it works
The update lock generally prevented users from upgrading to Windows 11 to protect their systems from potential problems. In this case, the software instability was caused by compatibility issues between Windows and VirtualBox. In a note added to the Windows Health Dashboard over the weekend, Microsoft explained: “Oracle has fixed this issue in VirtualBox 6.1.28 and later. To unlock the security lock on your device, you need to update to VirtualBox 6.1.28 or later.” .
He goes on to say: “Please note that it may take up to 48 hours before you update to Windows 11, version 21H2 is offered if other protection measures do not affect your device.”
After starting Windows 11, some VirtualBox users have complained about problems. When trying to update affected systems, they receive the message “VirtualBox. Your PC requires the latest version of this application. Click on “Learn More” for more information on how to update this application. Incidentally, this not only affected users using VirtualBox Consciously, but also users who have VirtualBox-based applications or who have integrated VirtualBox into their installation.
