The former Chelsea star has been out of action since November 28 when he suffered a calf injury in the Potters’ 0-0 draw at Sheffield Wednesday.
Before his injury, he participated in 15 matches in all competitions, and was helped while leading the team on a number of occasions.
As a result of that blow, he has missed his team’s last four matches against Wycombe Wanderers, Middlesbrough, Cardiff City and Derby County.
Manager O’Neill has revealed that the Nigerian will undergo a screening to ensure his readiness for the tight match despite his return to training.
“We’re going to have John Obi today [on Monday]. Practice part of yesterday’s session [Sunday]”But the important thing is not to bring players back early and risk re-injury,” O’Neill told the club’s official website.
“I think the big positive is that no one added to our injury list from Saturday’s match.
Cameroonian goalkeeper Blondy Nana Nukio was excluded from Stoke after he was unable to score.
On the other hand, Superhoops include Nigerian star Bright Osayi-Samuel, Ghanaian Albert Adumah and President Elias Moroccan in the starting line-up. Macauley Boon of Zimbabwe will start from the bench while Sierra Leonean Osman Kakai is excluded from the squad.
