Testing of the streaming service will begin next week, but we shouldn’t expect it in the Netherlands just yet. Netflix will initially release testing only in the US, South America, Canada, Australia and Ireland. So it’s still a bit waiting for the Dutch.
This isn’t the first time Netflix has tested new features in this way. The same method was also used when testing the Shuffle feature. After successful testing, the feature has been officially rolled out worldwide. Whether that also applies to TikTok-like videos depends on the test.
TikTok-esque Netflix videos are promotions
Bloomberg reports that Netflix wants to connect young children to the platform using the new video model. The idea is that the short videos are promotions for programs that Netflix has on the streaming service. The clips should also help you find new movies and series.
There is a big difference between the videos on TikTok and the Netflix version. You can watch up to 20 videos at a time instead of an endless stream. Netflix videos can also be viewed in landscape mode instead of in portrait view.
For now, it remains to be seen if the job will also come to the Netherlands. Are you waiting for these videos? Let us know in the comments.
