For the time being, there will be no new regulations for mobile phone ratings. Green Justice Minister Alma Zadic reversed her decision after the decision of the responsible committee and the review period of the law was extended.
It is certain that the new rules for evaluating mobile phones will not be decided before the summer. The draft law was not included in the agenda of the week of plenary sessions, which was published in parliamentary correspondence in the afternoon. Justice Minister Alma Zadic (Green Party) retracted the decision taken by the responsible committee and extended the review of the law after criticism from the judiciary – which upset the Austrian People's Party.
About 60 laws will be voted on before the summer
After all, there are still about 60 bills on the agenda for meetings Wednesday through Friday. There are also the two final reports of the investigation committees that took place this year.
The laws up for vote include a cooling-off period for potential Constitutional Court judges and a package of municipal and school laws. An increase in the additional income threshold for family and study allowances is also planned. An extension of the reimbursement of criminal defense costs should also be a solution, as should a special budget for Statistics Austria or funding for new podcasts. The green gas law is still pending, having not yet received the required two-thirds majority in committee.
A decision will also be taken at the National Council meeting on Friday to end the regular session. According to the work plan, it is expected to be completed on July 9. The conference starts on September 10. The newly elected National Council is then scheduled to meet on October 24. Until then, members of the current legislative session will remain in office.
