Heisend – On Monday October 11th at 9.00 am, Mayor Adrian Hoogendoorn and Alderman David de Jong will raise the so-called Pride of Progress flag in front of the House of Culture and Administration in Hogesand on the occasion of Exit Day 2021. Residents who wish to attend, are most welcome.

The municipality of Midden-Groningen has raised the rainbow flag for several years due to Exodus Day, which is held annually on October 11. Exodus Day was first held in 1988 in the United States and has been held in the Netherlands since 2009.
“Exit Day refers to the moment when a gay, gay, bisexual, transgender, and intersex (LGBTI) person publicly declares their sexual preference: ‘Exit.’ So on this day, we are thinking about the liberation and emergence of the LGBTI population, and indeed of all,” he said.
