Pickton was one of Canada's most famous serial killers. He was sentenced to life imprisonment in 2007 for killing six women, but is suspected of killing dozens of women.
DNA from 33 women
During an investigation into his pig farm near Port Coquitlam in British Columbia, traces of DNA from 33 women were found, Canadian newspaper Vancouver Sun reported.
Pickton told an undercover officer that he had killed 49 women. After killing the women, he is rumored to have put their bodies through a meat grinder and sold them as pork.
Relief of relatives
He singled out vulnerable women and was able to carry out his work for years because police did not adequately investigate reports of missing women, an inquiry found in 2012.
A number of relatives reacted with relief in the Canadian media. “There's more peace,” Cynthia Cardinal said. Her sister was killed by Pickton. “I know we can never forget it, but now we can move forward knowing that this evil is out of our world.”
