According to the famous German journalist Florian Plettenberg (SkySports), Jonathan Okita is continuing his career with the Swiss club Zurich. The 25-year-old striker has an expired contract at Nijmegen and is therefore free from transfers.
The Swiss champions have a two-year contract ready. The club became champions last season due to force majeure and kept Young Boys and FC Basel at an appropriate distance. The club is already mentioned in the second preliminary round of the Champions League in mid-July.
Okita settled in Nijmegen in the summer of 2018. NEC paid a transfer fee to MVV for the services of the striker, who was crowned Nijmegen’s top scorer in his first season. In the next two seasons, Okita was unable to match his performance, but he clearly changed that when he personally launched NEC to the Eredivisie in May last year.
He played 26 matches last season, during which he scored seven goals. This made him the club’s top scorer for the second time. NEC has made several offers for the Congolese international to no avail, but they cannot prevent Okita from signing a free transfer deal with another club.
