OnePlus has been working steadily to add its stock apps to the Google Play Store. This step makes it easier to push updates to these apps instead of full phone OTA. The newest app to do this is the OnePlus Messages app.
The description says the app allows labels for messages. This means that messages about transactions, promotions, and one-time passwords contain categories and are not grouped together. This feature was announced last year as Smart SMS, which is exclusive to India. It looks like it will now be available to all users.
Another new feature that has been mentioned is the ability to easily copy OTPs upon receipt. A tab that says “Copy OTP” will appear next to “Mark as read” when you receive a message containing OTP.
OnePlus Messaging app is not available for public viewing yet as it is still in Early Access. Once available in a stable form, it should be available when searching for it.
It is important to remember that just because the app is on the Play Store, that means you will be able to download it on any device. If you don’t own a OnePlus phone, it likely won’t even appear when you search for it. Only OnePlus apps that are designed to work on phones from other manufacturers will appear.
We’re not sure this app will even be available for OnePlus Nord as it ships with Google Messages and not the OnePlus Messages app.
