The Dutch national team started its last training session at home on Tuesday with Wales in the Nations League with a suitable selection. National coach Louis van Gaal appeared on the training ground in Zeist with 25 international players.
Jasper Cillessen and Vincent Janssen are also present. Cillessen missed the match against Poland on Saturday. The goalkeeper sustained a minor injury in training when he hit the goal post. Jansen has not received any playing time in the past three international matches. The 27-year-old Mexican FC Monterrey striker got married in the US last week and thus joined Orange only later.
Jansen could show himself to Van Gaal against Wales. The last time he played for the Orange team was on October 10, 2017, during a match against Sweden. Bruno Martins Indy is also hoping to take the time to play. The Arizona defender has not had any game time against Belgium and Poland over the past week and a half. He came in the Wales game after 84 minutes.
Matthijs de Ligt will likely also appear at the start of the match in De Kuip. The defender fell in the final stage of the match, which Wales won (1-2) due to complaints from the thigh muscles. Then he rested on Saturday against Poland (2-2). Van Gaal said after the match with Poland that Jurriën Timber needs a vacation after a long season.
Orange is in the middle of the Nations League with 7 points, at the top of Group 4 of the First Division. Belgium and Poland follow with 4 points. Wales has only one point so far.
The national coach will hold a press conference starting at 2 pm. So de Ligt keeps moving forward.
