Tennis star Leslie Pattinama-Kerkhoff reached the semi-finals during the ITF tournament held in Edmonton, Canada. Zierikzeese was too strong for Liv Hovd of the United States in three sets (6-4, 0-6, 6-2).
In the first set, Pattinama-Kerkhof and Hovde did not concede much to each other, but Zeelander won 6-4. The American won the second set convincingly: 6-0. There was a decisive third set and Patinama Kerkhov won 6-2.
On Saturday evening, Xerxesi awaits a meeting with Japanese Mana Nakamura in the semi-finals. Patinama Kerkhof enters that game as the favorite. It is number 234 in the world, while its Japanese competitor ranks 629.
For now, the tournament in Edmonton is going better for the Zealanders than the tournament in Saguenay, also in Canada. She was eliminated there in the first round last month.
