A police officer suffered life-changing injuries and three others were hospitalized after they had collided with another car.
A man in his twenties driving the other car was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.
The squad’s car crashed into the other vehicle just before 1.30 pm on Tuesday, in Southwark, southeast London.
It is understood that an officer was cut from the wreckage and rushed to hospital with three other colleagues.
One officer remained in the hospital with potentially life-changing injuries, while another there still had non-life-threatening injuries. Two other officers were discharged from duty with minor injuries.
The driver of the other car was also taken to hospital, but he was not seriously injured and was arrested in the accident.
Another man in the car is believed to have fled the scene. The police continue to search for him.
