According to the lowest estimate, the influx of asylum seekers next year will reach 49,800, and in the highest scenario it will be 78,500. This concerns everyone who applies for asylum here for the first time, but also, for example, people who apply for asylum again and follow-up travelers through family reunification. This is demonstrated by the annual forecasts of the ministries and organizations involved in the migration chain. The multi-year production forecast (MPP) will be discussed in the Cabinet on Friday.
The forecast for 2024 was slightly lower, between 48,800 and 75,700.
Earlier, State Minister Van der Burgh from the Asylum Party announced that the Dispersal Law stipulates that a total of 96,000 shelter places must be provided by July 1 next year.
The dispersion law should better distribute asylum seekers across the country. In extreme cases, municipalities can be forced to take in asylum seekers if they do not do so voluntarily.
Forecasts for next year also indicate that between 32,000 and 63,000 new asylum seekers are expected to arrive.
The government fell last year due to disagreements over asylum policy. The VVD, D66, CDA and Christian Union were unable to agree on measures to limit the influx of asylum seekers. Reception has been at a standstill for years, reception centers are overcrowded, and the registration center in Ter Apel regularly houses more than 2,000 asylum seekers. As a result, the Audit Bureau now has to pay more than 400,000 fines to the municipality.
The four component parties, PVV, VVD, NSC and BBB, want the number of asylum seekers coming to our country to decrease significantly.
