Panic is raging online and on social media, because Pretty Little Liars is no longer on Netflix. And that’s partly true, but not for us. The beloved series is disappearing from the streaming service in the US, but that’s not the case in the Netherlands. The question is, what consequences could this spin-off show have?
PLL leaves America
Netflix's US social media has come up with the following sad message this weekend. “7 seasons, 160 episodes, 125 threatening letters, 10,000, 5 liars, and more lies than can be counted. On July 27, we have to say goodbye to Pretty Little Liars on Netflix in the US. You have six weeks to rewatch it, but if you want to watch Mona in its entirety, it will only take you 6 days and 16 hours to watch it in one go.”
Pretty Little Liars Not Forever
The message already clearly states that it concerns the United States and inquiries now also show that this does not apply to the Netherlands. So Pretty Little Liars will still be available on Netflix in the Netherlands. However, this is a sign that PLL will not remain on the streaming service forever. If you haven't watched the series yet, you better not wait too long.
Incidental Consequences: Perfection
The question is what consequences will Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists have. The spin-off of the series has been airing in the US for several months. At the moment, it is still quiet about the show appearing on Netflix. The expiring deal in America is a bad sign, but it is not a definitive indication that the spin-off will not appear in the Netherlands. In general, completely different deals are being made for the US compared to the rest of the world. However, it remains to be seen.
