Prince Harry will leave California for the United Kingdom as soon as possible to visit his father, Charles. The British monarch announced on Monday that he had cancer and informed his son of his diagnosis.
Prince Harry has lived in the United States for several years and has a difficult relationship with his father and brother, Prince William. Despite the family feud, King Charles himself is said to have called him to tell him he had cancer.
According to sources close to the prince, Harry plans to travel to the United Kingdom as soon as possible. His wife, Meghan, and their two children, Archie and Lilibeth, remain in America.
Harry has not yet officially commented on his father's cancer diagnosis. Prince William, who was also personally informed by his father, has yet to provide an official response.
“The King is optimistic about his treatments.”
Buckingham Palace did not announce the type of cancer that the British king suffers from. The cancer was discovered during his hospitalization last week. Charles then underwent surgery for an enlarged prostate. The British king spent three nights in the hospital to receive this treatment.
According to the British royal family, cancer treatment began on Monday. On the advice of doctors, Charles postpones his public duties, but can continue to manage the affairs of state.
Buckingham Palace said in a statement: “The King is grateful to his medical team for their quick intervention.” He added: “He is optimistic about his treatment and looks forward to returning to all his duties as soon as possible.”
