Reese Witherspoon admits that she experienced no thought what becoming gay was whilst growing up in Nashville, Tennessee.
“No 1 spoke to me abut sexuality when I was a teen,” the 44-year-previous actress disclosed for the duration of a dialogue with Regina King for Selection. “I didn’t fully grasp what homosexuality was. My grandparents didn’t demonstrate it my moms and dads did not describe it.”
“I experienced to understand [about it] from someone I satisfied on an audition in Los Angeles,” she added.
The Oscar winner reflected on her Southern upbringing when she appeared on Chelsea Handler’s clearly show in 2006.
“I grew up, of course, in the South and there is astounding, great connectivity and people today are loving and communitive,” Witherspoon mentioned. “But there is a small aspect of it, folks [that] use components of the Bible in buy to express their intolerance and their detest and they manipulate it.”
At the moment, the actress and producer can be seen in the Hulu series “Little Fires Almost everywhere.” She instructed Variety the demonstrate “incorporated some of the dialogue I experienced with my grandmother” right after Witherspoon’s transfer to LA into her character Elena Richardson’s traces.
