low
Papendrecht is the only municipality in our region where the population has actually decreased since 2016. In the last eight years, there has been a decrease of 0.2 percent in that municipality. More people have died in the village than babies have been born. Also, more people have left Papendrecht than have come to live there.
Immigration
The national increase from seventeen to eighteen million inhabitants was much faster (eight years) than the growth from fifteen to sixteen million inhabitants (fifteen years). The faster increase can be explained by foreign immigration. Most of the new residents in the Netherlands come from Syria and Ukraine.
