Tertocentono/Van der Ar has qualified for the last four badminton matches of the Dutch Open

13:36: Badminton players Alyssa Turtocentono and Emke van der Ar managed to secure a place in the semi-finals of the Dutch Open. The Dutch duo were too strong for Jessica Hopton and Jessica Pugh, 14-21, 21-12 and 21-15, who had already conceded twice at Almere.

Turtocentono and van der Ar now face Joanna Magnuson and Clara Nystad of Sweden.

Later in the day, Deborah Gill and Sheryl Senen attempt to reach the last of the four women’s doubles.

Panama football team match without an audience after anti-gay songs

9.40 am: Panama must play their next home game in the 2022 World Cup preliminary round behind closed doors. FIFA has punished a Central American country for anti-gay songs from fans, in matches at home with Costa Rica and Mexico last month. Panama will play at home against El Salvador in mid-November.

The Panamanian Football Federation must also pay a fine of 46,500 euros. In response, the federation has already said it will appeal and “condemn any form of discrimination, in football or anywhere”.

Panama is in fourth place in the World Cup qualifiers with 8 points from six matches. The top three countries, at the moment, Mexico, the United States and Canada qualify for the World Cup.

Panama debuted in 2018 at the World Cup Finals held in Russia three years ago. The state lost all group matches.
