GRONINGEN – Sony announced through its official Twitter account that PlayStation Now broadcast resolution will be increased to 1080p.
Today there are all kinds of streaming services for movies and series, such as Netflix, Disney +, and Videoland. But nowadays, it is also normal for music and podcasts to be streamed via services like Spotify or iTunes. The advantage of streaming is that you no longer have to store files on your computer or phone, so you can listen to the latest songs or watch movies in seconds. But games are also increasingly flowing in the gaming arena.
More than 750 games
An example of a PC game streaming service is PlayStation Now, a service that allows subscribers to stream (and / or download) more than 750 games. The subscription costs 10 € per month or 60 € per year, but you can also try the service for free for seven days first. Those who want to play games on PlayStation Now can choose from games designed for PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. In addition, new games are added on a monthly basis.
From 720 pixels to 1080 pixels
Resolution is very important when broadcasting games. That’s why Sony recently announced an increase in PlayStation Now resolution from 720p to 1080p (pixel). according to tweet From Sony, the decision to broadcast the games will be rolled out in several stages. Players in Europe, Canada, Japan and the United States can expect the update “in the coming weeks.” These are all parts of the world that Sony is currently active in. It is not yet known which games the increased resolution will work with.
Dreaming
In addition to streaming games, Sony is also testing a new video streaming service. The company confirmed this in an interview with Polish magazine Spider’s Web. The testing will take place in Poland and PlayStation Plus subscribers will be able to access movies and series there. Currently, more than 20 movies and series can be streamed, but the range will be expanded further in the coming months. So Sony not only fully competes with parties like Microsoft and Nintendo, but also Netflix, Disney + and Amazon Prime Video.
