In the 1980s, a young Korean family moves from California to Arkansas. Father Jacob (Steven Yeun) bought a caravan with a plot of land there.

There he wants to realize his American dream: a farm that grows Korean crops for the growing Korean population in major cities in the United States.
Meanwhile, he and his wife, Monica (Yeri Han), work full time to pay the bills. This negatively affects their relationship and their young children, David and Anne.
It is more than just a story about their struggle, it is a series of vignettes shot in warm colors that are sometimes hopeful, and at other times depict the clear hopelessness of the situation.
Director Lee Isaac Chung based the screenplay partly on his childhood in a trailer in Ozark, Arkansas. Which makes Minari In a personal and intimate film that feels like a childhood memory revived.
Yoon Yeoh-jung
Minari It was received with great praise. The film received six Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture. One of these awards was the Best Supporting Actress award for Youn Yuh-jung. She plays Monica's mother who moves in with the family.
Yuh Jung is a big star in South Korea and enjoyed working in the United States, where she was not recognized everywhere.
