The Subaru Impreza WRX STI has been a household name in the automotive world for nearly thirty years now. The lettering combination ensures superior performance on all surfaces, in keeping with a real rally car.
However, the times of Subaru’s original homologation specials are now far from us: after all, the latest generation of the model will not have a hardcore STI variant at all. Increasingly stringent emission and noise requirements make STIs impossible.
So the WRX S4 STI concept presented at the Tokyo Auto Salon will not continue. Subaru won’t be going any further than “STI Performance” bumper kits for the foreseeable future.
Own STI

They haven’t revealed what they’re up to yet, but it wouldn’t be the first time Subaru Australia has rigged a WRX. In 2007, they came up with WRX Tuned By STI. The hook It received a slight boost in power and several improvements to the suspension and brakes.
In the same way, Australians may want to bypass the no-nonsense STI Performance Package:
