A new survival game called Rooted has been announced on Steam, which is based on Unreal Engine 5 and thus achieves great graphics. Apparently, the project has not progressed that far.
Several graphics demos based on Unreal Engine 5 have been around for a long time, but games based on the new engine have been unavailable until now. This isn’t too surprising, because Unreal Engine 5 has only been available for early access since May 2021. Even before the full version was released, the risk of developing the engine was high, so Unreal Engine 5 shouldn’t be very attractive for big projects just yet. However, some developers are already working on corresponding titles, as indicated, for example, by an entry recently posted on Steam: The Survival Game Is Created There rooted announced.
Fantastic graphics and survival gameplay
Not much is known about Rooted yet. First introduced YouTube channel Bludrik 42 The first gameplay screenshots are from the game’s Twitter account, followed by a Steam page with a short in-game video and some screenshots. It features the player running through beautiful landscapes and the overgrown remnants of a lost civilization. Which in turn fits with the Rooted story: The Rooted world was devastated 20 years ago by a biological warfare from which only a few survivors survived.
Regarding the game Rooted, not much is known. On the Steam side, there is talk of an open world with a crafting and camping system, as well as animals and animals that can be tamed – typical survival gameplay. The graphics are interesting, because the previously published material is very impressive.

For example, the developers posted a short video showing the day-night rhythm created by the new lumen technology. The patterns and textures also make a good impression, especially for an independent project. How well this holds up in practice is unclear: only a small portion of the Rooted game world has been shown so far.
However, the large game worlds or gameplay elements such as opponents or the crafting system were not yet visible. So the project shouldn’t go too far – and it’s fitting that there isn’t a release date for the game on Steam yet. So it’s hard to predict whether Rooted will be one of the first games to use Unreal Engine 5.
