BBC pundits praise Netherlands after win over Romania. Ronald Koeman's side won 3-0 and, according to pundits, more than deserved to qualify for the quarter-finals.
Alan Shearer has spoken of Holland's “best ever game” at the European Championship so far. “So far they've been a bit disappointing, but today they were fantastic. Even when they were under pressure in the first 15 minutes, Holland dominated the midfield. If they had been a bit sharper, they could have scored six or seven goals,” says the former great striker.

Alex Scott saw a “spark” and a “different energy” in the Netherlands. “Aki was very good in defence. The midfield was balanced and there was more energy and dynamism in attack. You could see they wanted to impose something.” According to former footballer Ashley Williams, Romania’s strong start may have been a wake-up call for the Netherlands. “Then they took control of the game, especially in midfield,” he added. “Tijani Reynders was crazy today, he was involved in everything. Schouten too.
“They defended well too. Holland looked much better today. Ronald Koeman will be happier than he was after the game against Austria. His substitutions have worked well, as has Malen. I really enjoy their fans too. They really showed themselves at the European Championship,” said former Wales international Williams, who then spoke about Reynders’ good style of play.
“Gakpo was excellent, he also did very well for the second goal. But Reynders was my man today. He controlled the game in a Toni Kroos style. He speeds it up when he wants to; he slows it down when he wants to. ‘That’s very good for your team,’ is Williams’ great compliment.
