Elten – The body of a young woman was found on Monday morning along a dirt road near the A3 motorway in the German border town of Elten. Authorities assume a crime, and the site near the border has been cordoned off.
A farmer made the discovery on Monday morning around 09:00. The body was lying along a dirt track, opposite the STAR gas station on Beeker Straße. Emergency services arrived at the scene, but the woman was already dead. According to the German authorities, the woman was violently killed. It is not known if this happened on the spot or if the body was left there. No other information is available on the woman’s identity.
A large-scale investigation is also underway at the site on Monday afternoon, including evidence gathering. A team including investigators from Krefeld and Kleve is now on the case. Witnesses who come up with suspicious findings near the Elten or Beckerstrasse junction in Elten between Sunday evening and Monday morning are asked to contact the Homicide Commission: by phone on 02151 6340
Arrest
At the beginning of the evening, the German police announced that they were in relation to a 23-year-old woman from Siegen. He had been reported missing earlier today. A 23-year-old man was also arrested in the same case.
