Ireland lost without any chance to France on Thursday, but they already look ready for Sunday’s match against the Dutch national team. National coach Stephen Kenny prepares Ronald Koeman’s players for a hot evening in Dublin.
France “only” won 2-0, but the dominance was still more than clear. France are probably the best team in the world, and certainly one of the two best teams in the world, with players like Kylian Mbappe, Ousmane Dembélé and Antoine Griezmann. I’m not happy about it, but the players gave everything. No matter who we played against which top team, this was the first time we lost by more than one goal. We are not proud of it, but I just want to say that the players will not concede just any goal. “They risked everything.”
“From our point of view, it’s all about Sunday against Netherlands in the sold-out Aviva. That’s the goal. We have to get the performance of our lives out of it. Netherlands beat Greece and that means if we beat Netherlands on Sunday, there will be three teams on the same page.” Level. “The Netherlands have good players, but we have won three of the last four games at home and scored nine goals,” Kenny continued. “We were really beaten, but games in the Aviva are different. We just have to prepare for Sunday’s game.”
