In the US, an 18-year-old seen as the “mastermind” for hacking into the Twitter accounts of several celebrities last July was sentenced to three years in prison. He was charged with thirty charges, including fraud, and he pleaded guilty.
During the hack, the Twitter profiles of former President Barack Obama and entrepreneurs Elon Musk and Bill Gates were seized, as were corporate accounts such as Apple accounts. Finally, 130 novels are affected. The hacked profiles called for a deposit in Bitcoin cryptocurrency, with the promise of a twice repayment. More than $ 100,000 could have been stolen this way.
Teenage Graham Evan Clark, who was 17 years old at the time of the facts, was arrested a few days later at his home in Tampa, Florida. By cooperating with prosecutors and admitting guilt, he escapes a potential adult conviction, which would have resulted in a much longer prison sentence.
