Only the final guest answered HBO Max’s The New Prince of Bel Air The reunion is private. Janet Hubert, whose behind-the-scenes issues with Will Smith led to her early departure as the original Aunt Vive, sits with Smith in front of the camera for the first time in 27 years.
Smith on Thursday shared two behind-the-scenes photos from the much-anticipated special movie, including an emotional snapshot (above) of him sitting with Hupert. He also shared this shot of other cast members participating in the reunion: Tatiana Ali (Ashley), Karen Parsons (Hillary), Joseph Marcel (Geoffrey), Daphne Maxwell Reid (Aunt Vive # 2), DJ Jazzy Jeff (Jazz) and Alfonso Ribeiro (Carleton) Sadly, James Avery – who played the beloved Patriarch Philip Banks – passed away in 2013.
The reunion is expected to begin sometime around Thanksgiving. Check out the Smith Collection photo (apparently taken as a re-creation of the show set) below:
According to the official release of HBO Max, Smith surprised the rest of the cast while filming the private reunion by revealing that he had filmed a separate conversation with Hubert. The experience was described as “an emotional reunion and candid conversation” 27 years ago.
Smith and Hubert’s tumultuous personal and professional relationship has been well documented over the years. The actress discussed this in her 2009 book Perfection is not the mother of comedy. To say that Young prince Fans were not expecting Hobart to appear in this reunion which is an understatement.
In another Young prince The news, Peacock recently gave a two-season order for Bel Air, A dramatic reimagining of the classic comic series. The project is based on a viral parody trailer by Morgan Cooper, who joins Smith as executive producer.
