The Energy Cost Allowance (TEK) can be applied for for the last time today. Many companies that consume large amounts of gas and electricity are quickly applying for compensation. Eight times more orders were received last week than in previous weeks.
Last week, nearly nineteen hundred applications were submitted. In previous weeks the government received an average of two hundred.
The compensation has already been applied more than ten thousand times. Part of this still needs to be processed, but according to the Dutch Enterprise Agency (RVO), a total of €68,781,019 has already been paid.
Many restaurants, cafes and food stalls in particular have applied for the TEK scheme. Together they received two thousand applications. But many football clubs, bakeries and saunas also want compensation.
The TEK scheme is part of the government’s package of energy support measures. The scheme provides entrepreneurs who spend at least 7 per cent of their turnover on energy costs compensation for the period from November 2022 to December 2023.
Households have already received a contribution in November and December due to a significant increase in energy costs. The TEK chart still had to take shape, so companies had to wait a little longer.
The government counter for the TEK program is open until 5pm on Monday.
