Govert Jan (90) and Tanetje Marie (96) from Rotterdam-Ijselmond couldn’t be happier on Thursday: Thanks to the guerrilla action of Rotterdam ombudsman Marianne van den Anker, the couple finally got a disabled place. But the happiness was short-lived: the pole with the parking sign had already been removed from the ground on Friday by the Owners Association (VvE).
The VvE has not yet made an official decision on the disabled location of the Koopmans-Hoek couple. So the pole was subject to reticence awaiting that decision. But despite the Ombudsman’s notes that ‘it’s not official yet. Hopefully, VvE decides to make the signature tag official, in case the column doesn’t stay there for long.
Garbage bag on the board
“When my parents-in-law came back from shopping yesterday afternoon a trash bag was hung over the sign and another car parked. So we parked the car ‘the old fashioned way’ in a different spot. But this morning I got a call from the caretaker that the pole had been completely removed by VvE , because they don’t approve of it,” says Jeroen Crody’s son-in-law.
Crody’s in-laws will therefore have to wait for the VvE’s decision, which will be made during the next meeting on December 7. “The VvE has called in the municipality to clear all other designated parking spaces until then, so that everyone is treated equally, but the question is of course whether that will actually happen.”
Glenn van Eijsden, ombudsman at the Rotterdam Ombudsman, regrets that the procedure ended in this way. “But we’ve started something in motion.” Kudde is also disappointed, but for now there is nothing else to do but wait for the VvE’s decision. ,, It’s also my mother-in-law’s birthday, so today it’s just a party and we won’t think about it. And I pick them up and bring them home, so I don’t have to worry about whether there’s still a parking space for them in the evening.”
