And Schultz will travel tomorrow to the Russian capital, Moscow, where he will meet with Putin. For now, these are the last scheduled talks at a senior diplomatic level. What will happen the day after tomorrow is not yet clear. Will diplomatic consultations continue as Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov advised President Putin, or does Putin have other (military) plans in the meantime?
Some analysts predict that if Putin wants to invade Ukraine, he will first look for a reason to do so, whether it is the wrong reason or not. It could be, for example, “abuses” by the Ukrainian army in the east of the country, where Russian-backed separatist rebels are fighting the Ukrainian army. To help the pro-Russian population there, Russia could invade eastern Ukraine. But other scenarios are equally possible, such as regime change in Kiev itself.
By the way, Russia is not only building its presence on the border with Ukraine. Also in Ukraine itself, the number of Russian mercenaries is said to have increased in recent weeks. This is what Western intelligence services say. These mercenaries can carry out all kinds of operations in Ukraine itself, even before the raid.
According to the US Department of Defense, Putin is increasing the number of military capabilities every day. It would seem that “this is an army that is getting stronger (on the Ukrainian border, liberated), which is increasingly ready.”
WATCH: Also on Monday, the military exercises of the Russian and Belarusian forces continue.
