The numbers are impressive and show that the world is investing more and more in renewable energy sources.
The numbers are impressive: it is expected that $3,000 billion will be invested in energy production around the world this year. This is more than at any time in history, the International Energy Agency (IEA) writes.
Renewable energies are on the rise
Two-thirds of this amount, or $2 trillion, flows to renewable energy technologies such as wind, water and solar. This includes investments in nuclear power, electric mobility, battery technology, and energy infrastructure.

This compares to the trillion dollars still invested in gas, oil and coal. In 2023, investments in renewable energy technologies exceeded investments in fossil fuels for the first time. After just one year, their number has already doubled.
China invests the largest amount of money in renewable energy projects, followed by Europe and the United States of America. The rest of the world lags significantly behind these areas.
Infrastructure is being improved
Investments in renewable energies also benefit infrastructure: this year, significantly more money will be spent on energy infrastructure, smart energy grids and electricity storage, according to the International Energy Agency.
Infrastructure spending has been stagnant for years, but has accelerated in the past three years.
