volleyballThe Belgian women’s volleyball team (FIVB 13) won their seventh match in the Nations League. The Yellow Tigers defeated Poland (FIVB 10) in Quezon City, Philippines 3-2. The specific positions were 25-20, 15-25, 25-22, 22-25 and 15-13.
It was the third match of the Belgian women’s volleyball team in Quezon City, Philippines. Previously, they lost 0-3 to China (FIVB 3) and 1-3 to Canada (FIVB 16). On Sunday they will face Bulgaria (FIV 15). In the standings, they count four points after their second victory, which is good for a place in the vault (14th out of 16).
At the beginning of June, the Tigers played their first four games in Ankara, Turkey. They lost to Serbia (1-3), Italy (1-3) and Turkey (1-3), but they defeated Thailand (3-2).
During the third week of the competition, national coach Gert Vande Brook’s team will compete with the world number one, the United States, Germany, the Netherlands and Japan, starting June 30 in Calgary, Canada. The best eight out of the sixteen participating countries qualify for the knockout stage. It is scheduled to be held in Ankara from July 13 to 17.
Belgian volleyball players are participating in the Nations League for the fourth time in a row. They ranked thirteenth in 2018, seventh in 2019 and ninth last year. They have not yet been able to reach the final tournament.
