Three members of the L1 regional broadcasting supervisory board will resign on August 1. The announcer writes on the site. These are Chairman Hans Kobos and members Myriam Debondt and Raoul Willems. With the trio’s impending departure, there is still one supervisory director, Barbara Van Hussain, who sits on the board of directors on behalf of the Foundation Chamber.
The trio announce that they will resign from their positions “because they know that the interest of L1 comes first”. At the end of June, the board sent director and director Peter Elbers home after the broadcaster’s staff complained about his “tyrannical” attitude and sent a fire message about the “unsustainable situation in the workplace.” Elbers will avoid casual contacts at work and employees have indicated they feel insecure.
In April, the Supervisory Board submitted the case to the Foundation Chamber of the Amsterdam Court of Appeal, which stated that an investigation should be conducted into the policy and situation at L1. In addition to Elbers, a second director and a fourth member of the supervisory board had to be appointed. Two weeks ago it was announced that Elbers would be leaving L1 permanently. Outgoing supervisory managers believe that the organization needs a ‘fresh start’. By stepping down, they hope “there will be room to constructively build the future of the organization.”
