Spring has arrived in Thuringia. The days are longer, the sun warms faces, and everything in nature sprouts and blooms.
Perfect conditions for spending the day outside, venturing into the countryside and enjoying the weather to the fullest. This is exactly what the Thuringian woman had in mind. But when she wanted to feel comfortable in the garden, she couldn't believe her eyes. With us you can read about the remark made by the woman that amazed her.
Thuringia: Drone flights cause a stir
What was supposed to be a relaxing day in the park took an unpleasant turn for the Thuringian woman. Unfortunately, nothing came of the relaxing enjoyment of the beautiful weather. Unfortunately, things were not ideal at Hofwiesenpark in Gera. The woman shared her experience on the social media platform Facebook.
The Thuringian woman made a disturbing discovery in the Hövsen Park in Gera. A drone flew over the Green Zone. However, the unknown drone pilot allowed the drone to fly too low and it repeatedly flew close to park visitors. “Flying too low and then too close to people is not only forbidden, it is also dangerous,” the observer wrote on Facebook. She points out that young children cannot correctly estimate the distance to such a drone. She also speculates that most people probably don't want to appear in other people's videos without being asked.

There is a lot of popularity on Facebook. Similar encounters with drones in Thuringia were discussed in the comments. “It's very annoying when drones fly where children are involved. Not to mention flying and taking pictures over private land,” says one user. Another Facebook user appeals to the importance of drone licensing.
But what are the limits of flying drones in Thuringia? What is allowed and what is not allowed? Thüringen24 got to the bottom of this. We have checked with Jeera police.
You are not allowed to fly your drone there
If you own a drone in Thuringia and want to fly it, for example to take photos or videos, there are a lot of things you need to take into consideration. In response to a request from Thüringen24, Gera police said that there are generally applicable rules regarding drones. You can also find a summary of it on the ADAC website. For example, you need a license to fly a small or large drone. To be able to fly a drone, you must be at least 16 years old. If you have a camera drone or one that weighs more than 150 grams, you must register it with the FAA. Only when all these conditions are met can your drone take off.
When it comes to flying, there are clear rules in Thuringia and the rest of Germany about what is and is not permitted. Under no circumstances may you be in a no-fly zone. Your drone is also not allowed to fly higher than 120 meters without permission. Your drone must remain in sight at all times during flight. Any obstruction or exposing others to danger is strictly prohibited. The privacy of others must be protected. This means: Photography or flying over private property is prohibited. Likewise in sensitive areas, such as police and emergency services locations, major traffic routes or crowds of people. Night flights are also not permitted without a permit. If you violate one of these rules, it could cost you a fine of up to €50,000.

But what should I do if I have a feeling that I was secretly filmed by a drone in a private room in Thuringia? Gera Police reminds you that you can file a report in such a case. Going back to the Facebook post about Hofwiesenpark: As long as no one in the park is endangered or disabled by the drones and the drone pilot registers their drone correctly, it's still OK.
