Mike Pence will not participate in the US presidential elections. The former vice president withdrew from the race to become the Republican Party’s nominee on Saturday.
Pence announced his decision during a meeting of the Republican Jewish Coalition in Las Vegas. “To the American people I say: This is not my time.”
Pence, 64, has been struggling for months to attract sponsors for his campaign. According to opinion polls, he had no chance of becoming the Republican Party’s presidential nominee. According to these polls, Donald Trump is the most likely candidate.
Pence indirectly criticized Trump during his announcement on Saturday. He called on Americans to vote for “someone who brings out the best in us and shows gracious leadership.”

Pence turned against his former “boss.”
Pence served as Vice President under Trump from 2017 to 2021. After their terms ended, the relationship between the two deteriorated. Trump expressed his hope that Pence would thwart the confirmation of Joe Biden’s victory in the presidential election on January 6, 2021.
For reasons including pressure on Pence, Trump incited a crowd of his supporters. This led to the storming of the Capitol building. Pence then categorically distanced himself from Trump.
He tried to present himself as a better alternative to his former boss. But many Republicans believe he betrayed Trump.
