In the case in which a 52-year-old doctor was shot on April 16 during a robbery on the Hermann Steinbergstraat in Suriname, police have arrested two suspects.
The woman was robbed of her bag containing personal items and a black-painted car.
Two men wearing camouflage jackets saw the opportunity to rob the victim in the garage of her home on Herman Steinberg Street when she returned home. During the robbery, the woman was shot in the chest by one of the suspects.
The victim was robbed of her bag, which contained personal items and money. After the robbery, one of the suspects fled on foot, while the second fled in the victim's car, which was parked in the garage.
The suspect who fled on foot was likely picked up by the second, after which they left the car unattended on Bolletriestraat with the engine running (photo below). The suspects continued their journey on foot towards Van 't Hogerhuysstraat in an unknown direction.
The victim was quickly transferred by ambulance to receive further treatment (picture above). The case was transferred by the Nieuwe Haven Office to the Criminal Investigation Section of the Major Crimes Division (KD) of the Surinamese Police.
A few days after the robbery, 34-year-old DS was arrested by members of the Central Regional Assistance Team and handed over to KD. During the investigation and after good detective work by the RBTP Intelligence Unit, FK (38) was identified and arrested by members of the Paramaribo Regional Assistance Team and handed over to KD for summons.
The investigation into this case continues.
