Ubisoft continues to add content to one of its most successful PvP games, Rainbow Six Siege. Operation Neon Dawn is the name of the latest update to Rainbow Six Siege, which also marks the start of Season 4 of Year 5.
Operation Neon Dawn brings a reworking of the Skyscraper map, along with major updates for Hibana, Echo and Jager devices. Most importantly, the update adds a new cannon called the Aurni, which can deploy laser gates to deter attackers and destroy their devices.
Client updates and map rework will be freely available to all players upon launch of Operation Neon Dawn, while the new Defender will be available at launch for Year 5 Pass owners, and unlockable with Fame or R6 Credits for all players after one week.
Now, if you’re wondering what this new Defender is all about, Ubisoft has released a short teaser that shows the new customer in action. We can also tell you that the Aruni is a medium speed and medium armor gun from Thailand who can place their laser gates on walls, windows, hatches, smooth or reinforced doors.
The device called the Surya Gates shoots a glowing laser net over the entire aperture, which will destroy any attacker drone or utility projectile it collides, and harm any attacker that touches it. Keep in mind that despite being placed above the doors, the grille will stop off the ground, leaving a gap in the bottom for drones or heavily guided projectiles.
Regarding the rework of the new map for Skyscraper, Ubisoft revealed that it has decided to remove a number of outdoor porches to reduce the chances of attackers shooting at Defenders without the obligation to enter the building. Plus, the new surface conductor and the second floor connector ensure there are still plenty of motion avenues to take advantage of.
Last but not least, the update includes balance adjustments for Hibana’s X-Kairos platform, Echo’s Yokai drones, and Jager’s ADS. Also, the defender’s out timer has been shortened, so players who go outside to get a corner on the attackers will soon be detected.
