The Russian invasion of Ukraine led to a remarkable incident on the island of Mallorca. A Ukrainian sailor was arrested there on Saturday for partially sinking his Russian boss’s luxury yacht. The sailor worked about ten years on the ship Lady Anastasia, which is worth 7 million euros.

The owner of the luxury yacht, which is moored at the El Toro marina in Mallorca, is Russian Alexander Mijeev. He was the CEO of the Russian Helicopter Corporation, a company that manufactures helicopters primarily for the Russian army.
In 2016, he became the director of a company that manufactures weapons for Vladimir Putin’s forces. Both companies are part of Rostec, a state-owned company consisting of more than fifteen holding companies active in the aviation, electronics and weapons sector.
After his act, the Ukrainian sailor stated that the ship’s owner was responsible for producing weapons that would attack his homeland.

revenge
When he watched on TV how a Russian missile hit an apartment building in Ukraine, he lost his mind. He understood that it was a missile produced by his boss’ company. Then he decided to take revenge. He opened a large valve in the engine room and the second in another compartment.
He ordered three crew members to get off the ship, but they started screaming that he was crazy. He said he would take full responsibility and reminded them that they are Ukrainians too. The crew and some dockers tried to stop the water leak.
When the police arrived, the sailor told the officers: “The owner of this ship is a criminal who makes his living selling weapons that kill Ukrainians.” The ship was severely damaged. The sailor was arrested, but has since been released pending trial.
