After a real online battle, VanMoof is now also entering the world of television with its first commercial with a preview of the future.
VanMoof released its first TV ad this past weekend. It is part of its latest international campaign that will be seen in several countries this summer. With the campaign rule “Time to Ride the Future,” VanMoof encourages breaking away from outdated habits. After launching the new S3 and X3 earlier this spring, the Dutch electric bike maker appears to be growing rapidly.

In a 45-second TV spot, reflections of industrial everyday life ripple onto the roof of the car, becoming a mirror of the rat race that city dwellers are exposed to. We see traffic jams, hear traffic with its noisy exhaust and see hordes of people on public transport. Then the car melts through the 3D simulation. The new S3 e-bike comes out of the hangover.
The campaign comes after the successful launch of the new VanMoof S3 & X3 electric vehicle, which has been on sale since the end of April. The campaign will be on TV in the Netherlands and Germany from this week and will follow over the summer with Out Of Home and Online others Core Markets Such as the United Kingdom, France, the United States and Japan.
VanMoof goes fast
Since its inception in 2009, VanMoof’s marketing has been primarily based on online resources and has always been highly focused on product launches. With success, because the bicycle maker is growing rapidly. From 2018 to 2019, VanMoof quadrupled its turnover from 10 to 40 million euros. This year the company aims to generate €80-100 million in revenue in 2020. Now that VanMoof is primarily known internationally, it is time for VanMoof’s progressive e-bike brand to fulfill its mission to “get the next billion on bikes.”
In times of COVID-19, the demand for e-bikes has skyrocketed all over the world. More people than ever are leaving the car or crowded public transportation behind and choosing an e-bike. This is reflected in the sales volume: VanMoof has sold more bikes in the past two months than it has in the past year and a half.
