World leader in attractions construction company Vekoma has started construction on a new campus in Vlodrup, Limburg. Due to expansions in recent years, the company's premises have become highly fragmented throughout the region (Including Roermund and Floodrup)
the current situation
Spread over an area of more than 4.5 hectares are numerous buildings of different functions, including a factory, a warehouse, offices and a storage area in Vlodrup. Other Vekoma locations include a factory in Roermond, where full production is carried out, and an office in Breda. Vekoma also rents various storage locations for track parts and spare parts, among other things.
Temporary offices were built following the fire in the early 1990s. These temporary offices have insufficient capacity, are illogically designed and no longer comply with current laws and regulations.
Due to limited capacity, storage options and the history of the site, research was conducted to find another solution. The Vlodrop site has a special history for Vekoma, is easily accessible by current employees and provides appropriate facilities based on site needs.
New Vikoma Campus
The former soccer fields will become the new location of the Vicoma Campus. The campus is known for its innovative and high-quality character, as much as the products that are manufactured. The campus is representative, functional and reflects Vekoma identity. “A progressive company focused on providing innovative, high-quality solutions to its customers.” In an inspiring green environment, the role of the campus is to support communication between employees and production processes.
In addition to the development of nearly 300 workplaces, two production halls, a spacious warehouse and a multi-storey office building, including meeting rooms and a restaurant, are being built. All buildings are equipped with the latest technology to support employees in their work as effectively, efficiently and innovatively as possible.
By repositioning the head office, assembly and warehouse, space is created at the existing location in Chapwig. The existing offices will be (partially) demolished and rebuilt to accommodate the track's entire production here. Vekoma merges two sites (Roermond and Vlodrop), creating a single site.
Sustainability
Sustainability legislation is tightened annually. Additionally, it is in the public interest to reduce our environmental footprint. Sustainability will also be an important point of interest for the new Vekoma campus and renovated track production site. To determine the level of ambition, Vekoma uses the DCBA method and a comprehensive approach to fostering this ambition. The possibility of obtaining sustainability certification will be explored in depth, such as BREEAM or WELL certification.
Since 2018, Vekoma has been part of the Japanese company Sansei Technologies, which is also active in the tourist attractions sector. In recent years, the Vekoma has sailed an independent course under the wing of its Japanese owner.
