“It is unfortunate that the Surinamese people and members of the Surinamese police force have once again been misled by the SPB leadership,” Edgar Sambi, a member of ABOP DNA, said Friday.
He is referring to the statements of former SPB chief Hellings, current president Atompai and chief of the Gentle Sports Police Station who claim that the visit of the Suriname president should cost the Corps 1.5 million Saudi riyals.
Sambi, who is the head of the DNA Standing Committee for Justice and Police, says in a conversation with the Surinamese news website The Surinam Herald that the visit will cost 134,000 Saudi riyals and not 1,500,000 Saudi riyals as the three mentioned.
Hillings wrote in a Facebook post that the KPS is under pressure to pay for the president’s visit. In the post that can be seen on the right, the amount of 1,500,000 Saudi riyals is mentioned.
The other two, Gentle and Atombay, also claim in a video from the Flying Reporter seen above that KPS needs to spend 1.5 million Saudi riyals in order for the president to arrive.
Sambi points out that this is not true at all and that he requested the correct information about the budget for the president’s visit. The Ministry of Justice and Police also announced that the 1.5 million Saudi riyals mentioned by Hellings, Atompai and Gentle are incorrect.
