Enschede – The University of Twente Vinod Subramaniam (1967) has appointed the new Chair of the Executive Board, effective September 1. Vinod succeeds Victor van der Chase, who held the position for eight years until March of this year. Vinod is currently Rector Magnificus at VU Amsterdam.
With the appointment of Vinod Subramaniam, University of Twente gained knowledge: He was the scientific director of the MIRA Research Institute from May 2012 to September 2013. Before that, he was the head of the Department of Nanoscale Biophysics for nearly ten years.
A wealth of experience

Scientific career
In September 2013, Vinod replaced UT with FOM AMOLF, where he became director. He remained affiliated with the University of Twente as a visiting professor. In 2015 he was appointed the brilliant rector of the VU, Amsterdam, a position he holds until now.
Vinod studied electrical engineering at Cornell University and obtained a Ph.D. in engineering physics from the University of Michigan in the United States in 1996 for the application of laser spectroscopy to protein research. Before coming to UT in 2004, he was a member of the Max Planck Institute for Biophysical Chemistry in Göttingen, Germany, and in 2002 he left for the UK to become a Senior Researcher at AstraZeneca.

Mashtild Ross is the new vice chairman of the Executive Board
Mashtild Ross (1975) will be the vice president of the new Executive Board of the University of Twente effective September 1. She is currently Director of the Wageningen University Environmental Science and Research Group (WUR), with Research and Operations Department in her portfolio. Matchild is the successor to Miriam Bolt, who will become a member of the Council of State on September 1.
After studying business economics at the University of Amsterdam, Maatchilde began her career as a consultant to IBM. Since then, she has held various management positions in both the public and private sectors: prior to her appointment at WUR, she was Deputy Director at Nivel for eight years, conducting research in the health sector.
