Vinod Subramaniam (Madras, 1967) studied electrical engineering at Cornell University and received his Ph.D. in 1996 from the University of Michigan in the United States in applied physics. After several scholarly positions, he became Professor at the University of Twente in 2004 and Director of the FOM AMOLF in 2013. In 2015 he was appointed Rector Magnificus of VU Amsterdam. Vinod Subramaniam is also a member of the Supervisory Board of the National Academy of Fine Arts and the Recommendation Committee of the Dutch Student Orchestra. As of September 1, 2021, he will be appointed Chairman of the Executive Board of the University of Twente.
