Puffy sleeves, pastel T-shirt and solid suits – summer style is really coming.
After a year in which leggings and oversized hoodies became the casual work from home, it was time to revamp the wardrobe, with bike shorts (a la Hailey Bieber), electric jackets, and iron-fitting cutouts.
So what are the moment trends you should look to add to the pre-summer and party season away social lockdown?
Vogue Philippa Moroni, senior Australian fashion editor, said voluminous sleeves, prints on prints, cuts and lightweight jumpsuits are the main trends for the upcoming season.
“The summer suit is a great example of a look that will work hard for you this summer,” Moroni said. “The pink suit is great with a T-shirt and sneakers during the day during the week.”
“For a fun weekend look, swap the shirt for a short shirt. Add a touch of leather and a narrow mid heel for a summer weekend look,” citing brands like Aje, camilla, marc and Scanlan Theodore.
As for accessories, the Bambi Northwood-Blyth model said “always chooses the opposite.”
Northwood Blythe said, “If the color is loud it might be a regular sneaker, or a colorful shoe, maybe a little white dress – (it concerns) the balance.”
Lauren Urmacia, a spokeswoman for H&M fashion chain, said linen on linen was one of the summer must-have trends.
She said the color bandage would feature “an earthy color palette of rust, khaki and tobacco”, along with “oversized puff sleeves that give a nod to the 1980s.”
Look for utility, too, with its “Belted Waist and External Pocket Detail”.

As part of Night In by Vogue Fashion, Vogue Basic unveiled a limited edition annual ($ 100) organic cotton shirt.
A versatile addition to her spring / summer wardrobe, Moroni suggests pairing the shirt with “comfy oversized cropped sandals for a cool summer look”.
“Or wear your skirt with a skirt and jacket to play on feminine menswear,” she advised.
And how does Northwood Blythe dress her salary? “With denim, but I think he matches it with white pants or linen or just a bikini.” It’s summer in Australia, no worries, “she said.
