Tel Aviv (AFP) – Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu expressed his expectations to resolve differences with the United States over arms supplies to his country in the near future. The Prime Minister said during Cabinet meetings that these shipments began to show a “significant decline” about four months ago.
Netanyahu publicly complained about the issue this week in an English-language video on social media. He then said that the US government is “withholding” weapons while its ally Israel fights for its life. According to American media, the White House reacted angrily to this “trick” by the Israeli Prime Minister, and reportedly canceled summit talks with Israel.
The Prime Minister defended his decision to put this video online during the Cabinet meeting. Netanyahu said that the US authorities had been asked behind closed doors for weeks to increase arms shipments, according to the Times of Israel news website. Ultimately, the situation couldn't get any better, which was why he chose to announce himself. The Prime Minister's explanation contradicts that of the United States, which denies that there has been a major interruption in arms supplies.
