For a long time there has been talk about the possibility of Michael Andretti taking over the Alfa Romeo team run by Sauber. The deal was confirmed in October, but Andretti said it was close.
Just before the US Grand Prix, it looked as if Andretti and Sauber were going to announce that this takeover would take place until talks were abruptly called off. Adds American racer He admits that he still has a lot of interest, and therefore is disappointed that it did not work out.
“It was really disappointing that this deal didn’t materialize. We were literally 48 hours away from closing the deal at that point, we thought. I’d still really like to do it, the odds are dwindling and the teams aren’t really for sale at the moment.” We have to see what happens in the future.”
Andretti won’t give up
in conversation with racer Andretti Autosport’s team manager acknowledges that talks began as early as May. In August and September it all suddenly started and he had the idea that there was a deal. Circumstances made it impossible to complete the deal, but the American is optimistic. “There is always a plan B or C. So we are definitely still attacking. We will see what happens, but I will not give up. There may be opportunities that are not there yet and we will continue to look for them.”
