WhatsApp is currently testing a new chat button in Messenger. Among other things, it aims to greatly simplify the process of editing photos within the app.
- A new chat button is now being tested in the current beta version of WhatsApp.
- It opens the Meta AI chatbot, which can edit images according to your wishes.
- AI can also answer questions about the content of recordings, such as recognizing landmarks.
WhatsApp regularly tests new features within its beta program, which sometimes reach the messenger later. In the latest beta version 2.24.14.20 for Android, all signs point to AI – that is, artificial intelligence. It’s intended to make handling images within the messenger much easier.
According to Wabetainfo, the current beta version of WhatsApp offers the option to edit images and provide information about images via the Meta AI chatbot. Anyone who starts a conversation using the new chat button can send an image to the AI and ask it to be edited individually.
Meta AI should also be able to answer questions about the content — for example, if you’re asked about a particular building or landmark in an image. Users should always retain control over the recording and be able to delete it at any time. Conversations with Meta AI should also be encrypted.
Not in Germany at the moment
As always with WhatsApp beta versions, it is not clear whether the feature will eventually make its way to Messenger. However, given the high demand for AI-powered features, the possibility is high. However, Chatbot Meta AI is currently not available in Germany.
The messaging service currently has other interesting new features. Among other things, WhatsApp has introduced a new data protection option, and there is now two-factor authentication using an email address.
